The cost for these services work on a sliding scale & vary a great deal from project to project. Please email Jen for more details, payment options, or contract options. Please note that if you pay for services, you keep 100% of your royalties and a CreateSpace account will be set up for you. If you're under contract, Broken Publications keeps a percentage of your royalty earnings (but you do not pay for any of these services). Royalty checks are mailed out at the beginning of each year for the previous year, unless a higher amount is earned.

• Basic proofreading & copyediting:
       This entails exactly what it sounds like: proofing for spelling, grammar, and typo errors. This does not include a critique or information architecture! If you have already edited your work and are ready to publish but want a second opinion, this service is for you. Sometimes it's hard to catch all of the typos in the first round, so it's good to have someone else take a look with fresh eyes.
  
  
• Thorough editing, critique, & manuscript finalization (does NOT include formatting or resizing the document):
       This service is also what it sounds like: a thorough edit of your work, with regular communication regarding each chapter or section of your manuscript and a detailed edit to ensure its quality. This process can often take a while depending on the effort put forth by each party, but on our side, we do a total of three (3) edits. The initial rough edit to get a feel for your style and make basic corrections, the secondary to incorporate any suggested changes as both parties discuss them, and the final edit to absolutely make sure the manuscript is at its very best.
   
• Document formatting & resizing for printing press:
       Though resizing a document sounds simple, a lot of manual spacing, font adjustments, and header/footer spacing adjustments are usually needed. If there are images or illustrations included in your manuscript, the placement may be off after resizing, so these will also have to be re-sized and adjusted to fit the final layout before printing can take place.
  
  
• File conversion to eBook format(s):
       Depending on how many different formats you want your eBook to be available in, we can convert pretty much any file to any file, including PDF to word. This also means, of course, that we can convert word to PDF, create .mobi files for the Kindle, and convert your book to EPUB format, which can be read by most eReading devices.
  
  
• Book cover design:
       Have an idea for your cover and want to make it a reality? We can do that. Already have a picture? Great! Don't? That's ok too. With a background in design and a quality photography team (Hadley Rae Photography) on our side, we can come up with a beautiful cover for your book and make your work stand out! Even if we design from scratch, you'll love the look of your book in print with our high-res quality.
  
  
• ISBN Assignment:
       As a publishing company, we keep  certain number of ISBN's unassigned to ensure availability. Since we're just starting and have a somewhat small author list, this service may not always be available. However, if it is, we offer a steep discount on assigning an ISBN to our books and this includes a barcode, which will later be included on the back cover of your book.
  
  
• Publishing consultation:
       Want to know how to do it yourself and get some inside information and resources including our top picks for printing and eBook publication? We won't give you all the tricks of the trade... but we'll definitely let you in on some of the basics of the publishing world, with a focus on self-publishing so you can keep a higher percentage of profits and maintain 100% creative control over your work.
